I know that there is much need for missionary work in the world today. I have a very strong testimony of missionary work and how it will bless the lives of others. I know that we can be missionaries in our everyday lives, not just as we serve full-time missions. I know that even being someone’s friend, being a good example to them, can be a type of missionary work. I know that this is our responsibility, to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and to share the joy and peace that we have in our lives with those around us. I know that the missionaries in this gospel will be blessed for their service to God as they dedicate themselves to Him and building His kingdom. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve full-time missions and the strength that it can bring to the lives of those they serve and their future families.
"We, as members of the Church, have the fullness of the gospel. Every conceivable manner of spiritual nourishment is ours. Every part of the spiritual menu is included. It provides an unending supply of spiritual strength. Like the widow’s cruse of oil, it is replenished as we use it and shall never fail.
And yet, there are people across the world and about us—our neighbors, our friends, some in our own families—who, spiritually speaking, are undernourished. Some of them are starving to death!
If we keep all this to ourselves, it is not unlike feasting before those who are hungry. We are to go out to them, and to invite them to join us. We are to be missionaries." President Boyd K. Packer, Feed My Sheep, April 1984 General Conference
“My brothers and sisters, the Lord’s purposes are often accomplished as we pay heed to the guidance of the Spirit. I believe that the more we act upon the inspiration and impressions which come to us, the more the Lord will entrust to us His errands.” President Thomas S. Monson, Consider the Blessings, October 2012 General Conference
“With your guidance, those you lead will be able to see, want, and believe they can achieve their full potential for service in God’s kingdom.” President Henry B. Eyring, Help Them Aim High, October 2012 General Conference
“All missionaries, younger and older, serve with the sole hope of making life better for other people.” Elder Russell M. Nelson, Ask the Missionaries! They Can Help You! October 2012 General Conference
“The true name of the Church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is the reestablished original Church of Jesus Christ. When He walked upon the earth, He organized His Church. He called Apostles, Seventies, and other leaders to whom He gave priesthood authority to act in His name. After Christ and His Apostles passed away, men changed the ordinances and doctrine. The original Church and the priesthood were lost. After the Dark Ages, and under the direction of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ brought back His Church. Now it lives again, restored and functioning under His divine direction.” Elder Russell M. Nelson, Ask the Missionaries! They Can Help You! October 2012 General Conference
“Missionaries in their late teens or early 20s are young in ways of the world. But they are blessed with gifts—such as the power of the Holy Spirit, the love of God, and testimonies of the truth—that make them powerful ambassadors of the Lord. They share the good news of the gospel that will bring true joy and everlasting happiness to all who heed their message. And in many instances they do so in a country and a language foreign to them.” Elder Russell M. Nelson, Ask the Missionaries! They Can Help You! October 2012 General Conference

“Whether full-time missionaries or members, we should all be good examples of the believers in Jesus Christ.” Elder Russel M. Nelson, Be Thou an Example of the Believers, October 2010 General Conference
“You may be the very one to open the door to his or her salvation and understanding of the doctrine of Christ.” Elder Russel M. Nelson, Be Thou an Example of the Believers, October 2010 General Conference
“As a member of the Church, reach out to those you do not know and greet them warmly. Each Sunday extend a hand of fellowship to at least one person you did not know before. Each day of your life, strive to enlarge your own circle of friendship.” Elder Russel M. Nelson, Be Thou an Example of the Believers, October 2010 General Conference
“It [The Book of Mormon] is another testament of Jesus Christ. Its very purpose is “to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations.” There is a power in this book that can touch the hearts and lift the lives of honest seekers of truth. Invite your friend to read the book prayerfully.” Elder Russel M. Nelson, Be Thou an Example of the Believers, October 2010 General Conference
“What I need, Peter, are disciples—and I need them forever. I need someone to feed my sheep and save my lambs. I need someone to preach my gospel and defend my faith. I need someone who loves me, truly, truly loves me, and loves what our Father in Heaven has commissioned me to do. Ours is not a feeble message. It is not a fleeting task. It is not hapless; it is not hopeless; it is not to be consigned to the ash heap of history. It is the work of Almighty God, and it is to change the world. So, Peter, for the second and presumably the last time, I am asking you to leave all this and to go teach and testify, labor and serve loyally until the day in which they will do to you exactly what they did to me.” Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, The First Great Commandment, October 2012 General Conference
Today many sisters are being called to serve. Many more are preparing to serve. Not because they aren't married or don't have anything else to do, but they have the desire to serve. One reason that the Lord wants more sisters to serve is because within the next generation He will send His priesthood army to the earth. He wants to send choice spirit children to mothers who have been prepared, properly trained, and taught in the gospel. What better schooling can a mother have than the experience and growth she gains through serving a mission.” President Gordon B. Hinckley
